Finances and Assistance

The cost of attendance at Eastern Mennonite University for the school year is around $34,900. You can reduce this amount by qualifying for the international student grant, seeking a student sponsorship through church or other organizations, and working on campus throughout the semester.

Student sponsors

Please consider the cost of our institution before you continue with your application process. Students who have financial hardship may want to seek sponsorship through churches, organizations, etc. This is the student’s responsibility. Eastern Mennonite University does not provide sponsors for students.

International student grant

While EMU does not provide international student scholarships or full-tuition grants, our international student grant, created to provide additional assistance for international students, ranges from 10% to 50% of tuition.

The grant is only awarded to incoming international students, but is valid for the length of the time required to complete a degree program, maximum of five years. Student must maintain a 2.0 GPA and complete a minimum of 24 credits per year to keep the international student grant.

To qualify for the grant, applicants must have a completed application (including a completed financial certification form) and be accepted by March 1 . Those applicants meeting all the requirements will automatically be considered for the grant. There are a limited number of grants awarded every year, therefore priority is given to applicants with significant financial need, connections to the Mennonite Church, and those who demonstrate strong academic abilities.

On-campus work

Students have the opportunity to work on-campus in a variety of roles, ranging from community advisor in the dorms, game room assistant, dining services employee in the dining hall and for special events, and more.

Immigration regulations limit the number of hours a student can work during the week. Normally, international students can earn around $900 per semester.
