My cross cultural experience:

I plan to be attending the Cross Cultural in the Fall of 2008 to Spain and Morocco. I am excited and can’t wait to soak up the culture and sun…and maybe enjoy some dancing.

My favorite campus activity:

Every weekend, campus features a new-release film. Every semester the CAC gives us a chance to put ideas in for the next semesters chioces of shows. Then they take the top choices and put a schedule together. Some of this semester’s collection include “The Prestige,” “Happy Feet,” “The Holiday,” Casino Royale”...the list goes on and on. The best part of CAC films is the price. For a student, $1.50 is perfect. It is a good time to sit, relax, go with a group of friends or a certain someone and enjoy popcorn and a good movie.

My favorite class at EMU (and why):

Any art lab would classify as being my favorite class. Last fall I took a papermaking course with one of my favorite profs Barbara Fast. Papermaking was her medium which made the class more exciting. When the professor is excited, the students are. Not only did we get to create many sculptural pieces but we had much space to work. We had three students in the entire class, me included. This made the interations between Barb and all three of us more personal and we were also able to do more of the projects that we were passionate about.

My favorite EMU memory so far:

I can not place ONE favorite memory that I have had here at EMU.But I do enjoy meeting new people everyday and making new memories with my friends. Whether that is going to the tea room downtown, watching a movie put on by CAC on the weekends or finding live music in the surrounding areas.

My favorite intramural season:

Hands down, my favorite season was dodgeball. I loved how the game could get so intense but then also realize how much fun we were having with a group of people throwing around some balls. Simple game, but holy cow, lots of fun!

My favorite reason to get off campus:

My favorite reason to get off campus is to go and explore the city. I am finding new things to do in Harrisonburg each month which is exciting. For instance, “Earth and Tea” which is a good place to go and enjoy tea, study, talk and relax. Another fun place to go is “Touch of the Earth” which is a funky jewelry etc. store. But if I was to choose ONE favorite reason to get off campus it would be to go to Panera. If you know me, you will know that I LOVE Panera. It is a place where I enjoy going to get myself away from the school atmosphere and enjoy the presence of others around me—I can not get enough…thank goodness they are all around the country.

My favorite residence hall:

Hillside, because of feeling of having your own place but at the same time, being on campus and also having your friends just right down the hall.

The most surprising thing about EMU:

The most surprising thing about EMU is that even though it is considered a small campus, I find myself meeting new peole everyday. I see people that I have never seen before and find myself getting to know a new person about once or twice a week. I like that I do not know everyone one and off campus—it gives me, as a social butterfly, a chance to keep meeting people as I walk around campus on a daily basis.
