year: Junior

home community: Sarasota, FL

faith: Mennonite

home congregation: Ashton Mennonite

major(s): Business Administration

interests & hobbies: I love music especially playing the piano, and I also love art. I took ceramics last year and it is a wonderful class that I would highly recommend. I created some great pieces and learned a lot. EMU also has a really unique opportunity to climb an inside rock wall. I have done it a few times, and it is an invigorating experience. If you like to play sports but don't want to the commitment or intensity of a varsity sport, you should get involved in intramurals. It is a great way to meet people and to have fun playing sports together. I really enjoyed playing intramural indoor volleyball. Another cool place to go is, Common Grounds, it is one of my favorite places on campus to go. It is great place to go when you need a homework or study break. EMU is a great place to make life long friends. I have met so many wonderful people, and have made some amazing friends. I know that through out my life they will always be involved.

extra curriculars: Royals Society, Intramurals, Reslife Staff- CA

My cross cultural experience:

I have not been on a cross-cultural trip, but I am hoping to go on either the Germany trip or the Spain trip.

My favorite campus activity:

Going to Common Grounds (our coffee café)

My favorite class at EMU (and why):

Ceramics, I love to get my hands dirty, and I think it is amazing to watch a lump of clay turn into a beautiful piece of artwork whether it is a bowl, vase, cup, etc.

My favorite EMU memory so far:

My roommate brought her video camera to school after Thanksgiving break and we took it everywhere with us videoing random things that we did, and at the end of 1st semester, we watched it after we finished our finals. We laughed for hours; it was a great night, and I will remember it for awhile.

My favorite intramural season:

My favorite intramural season would have to be indoor volleyball.

My favorite reason to get off campus:

Wal-Mart runs at 2:30 in the morning because there are no lines and going out to eat.

My favorite residence hall:

My favorite place to live so far has been Elmwood (my first year living residence); however, I am becoming use to Roselawn and it feels more like home every day. One nice thing about it is that we have the latest open hours (12 noon til 2am) and 24 hr lounges.

The most surprising thing about EMU:

How friendly everyone is, and how many students that go here that aren’t Mennonite.
