My cross cultural experience:

For my cross cultural experience, I had an amazing opportunity to live in the Dominican Republic, in a small town on the Haitian border, for two months last summer. My older sister is living there doing missionary work, and I was able to stay with her and help her in her work for the Church. She also has been teaching violin lessons there, and I was able to teach some of her students during the time that I was there. It was a life-changing experience for me, because I was able to build real relationships with real people who had grown up so completely different from me. It was my first time outside of the US—and I didn’t want to come home!

My favorite campus activity:

My favorite campus activities are sports events. GO ROYALS!!

My favorite class at EMU (and why):

I have had so many favorite classes at EMU that it’s hard to pick just one! Every class for my major (Music Performance) has been enjoyable, and has also challenged me to grow as a musician in ways that I never thought I could. The music faculty here make things challenging, but fun and exciting at the same time. Also, all my Political Science courses have been amazing, and of course Spanish class is always a blast!

My favorite EMU memory so far:

I have had lots of great memories at EMU, but some of the best are from basketball games and orchestra concerts.

My favorite reason to get off campus:

One of my favorite reasons to get off campus is to go to church on Sundays. It’s also nice when my parents come to visit me, because they take me out to eat and they pay for it! ;-)

My favorite residence hall:

My favorite dorm would have to be Roselawn, just because it’s so much fun! :-)
