Salem, Va. – The pairings are set for the 2004 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Softball Tournament, which begins Friday, April 23 and runs through Sunday, April 25. This year’s tournament will take place at the Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Virginia.

The Hornets of Lynchburg College are the tournament’s top seed after finishing the regular season 14-2 in the conference. Lynchburg has been led by freshman Caroline Cubbage (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) who is batting a team-high .437 with 11 doubles, two triples and five homeruns. She has also knocked in a team-high 44 RBI. Laura Gonder (Hopatcong, NJ/Hopatcong) is second on the team with 40 RBI. The senior second baseman is hitting at a .349 clip which includes eight doubles, one triple and two homers. Jen Overstreet has compiled a 22-5 record and a 1.68 ERA on the mound for the Hornets. Her 22 wins rank her second in the country behind Muskingum’s Erica Hoyt who has 26 victories. Overstreet has appeared in 31 games this season and has tallied 14 complete games and five shutouts. The junior from Bedford, Va./Liberty has struck out 115 batters in 162.1 innings pitched while walking just 39 opponents.

Roanoke College is the tournament’s second seed followed by Bridgewater, Emory & Henry, Virginia Wesleyan and Eastern Mennonite. Both the Wasps of Emory & Henry and Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan finished 10-6 in the ODAC, but E&H swept Virginia Wesleyan earlier in the season to earn the number-four seed.

The winner of the ODAC Tournament receives the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
