The 2010 annual Bach festival, Bach and American Music, will be held June 13-20.
The 2009 Bach Festival featured the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel, in observance of the 250th anniversary of Handel's death.
Acclaimed soloists Jennifer Ellis Kampani, Heidi Kurtz, Kenneth Gayle, and David Newman, joined the festival in 2009, under the direction of Kenneth J. Nafziger. The magnificent oratorios Samson and Messiah by Handel, Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 and Cantata BWV 146, and Handel's Royal Fireworks Music are just a few of the works showcased this year with Bach...and Handel.
Marvin Mills, organist and assistant choir director, returned to the festival. The festival orchestra and choir, six daily noon chamber music concerts, and the Leipzig Service continued as integral parts of the week-long event. Additional opportunities to experience music in unique ways included the new Baroque Workshop, Elderhostel session, and several programs for youth.
