Update on the Diagnostics and Medical Management of Cardiovascular Disease

This presentation will update the participants on present day knowledge of cardiovascular disease as it relates to acute coronary syndrome and heart attack. In this presentation, the speaker will define and differentiate Acute Coronary Syndrome from a Myocardial Infarction. The discussion will include illustrations and review of pathological changes in the coronary artery wall as it relates to these specific disease states. The lecturer will also briefly discuss improved diagnostics, current medical management strategies, and trends for the future pertaining to coronary heart disease.
About the Presenter
Dana Morrison, RN, MSN
Dana Morrison received her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1982 from Shenandoah University, her B.S in Nursing degree from George Mason University in 1989, and her M.S. degree in Nursing with a Specialty in Education from Walden University in 2007. Dana is currently the Heart & Vascular Center Educator for Medical Cardiovascular Services at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester Virginia. This is her 26th year in Cardiac Intensive Care Nursing. She wants you to know that she is as excited about cardiac nursing now as she was all those years ago!
In addition to her full time career as an educator, Ms. Morrison lectures nationally on an array of cardiac topics. In her spare time, she spends time with her son and trains quarter horses. She would be the first to admit that horses are easier to train than little boys!
