As part of our collective effort toward building faith that fosters servant-leadership, students have the opportunity to gather during the chapel time for focused conversations/interactions about the intersections of faith and their area of study (major/minor) with faculty members of their major/minor. are encouraged to join the Music Department session or take a break together for self-guided conversations on the intersection of faith and their work, vocation or avocation.

Applied Social Sciences Department – Common Grounds Coffeehouse
Title: Applied Social Sciences: stories that sustain us.
Faculty members will share stories of practice in peacebuilding and social work that are influenced by faith followed by a time for questions and discussion with students. Snacks and coffee will be available.
Bible & Religion Department – UC 201 (President’s Reception Room)
Title: Christian Hope and Pagan Politics
Business & Economics Department – CC 201
Theme: Intersections of Faith & Business
Students who attended the MEDA convention will be giving their thoughts on how they see faith and business intersecting.
History Department – Brunk-Maust Lounge (first floor Campus Center)
Join history faculty and students for informal discussion over coffee, tea and snacks about how Christian pacifists can respond to international conflict. History senior Julia Schmidt will share about her recent trip to Turkey and Iraq (Kurdistan) with a Christian Peacemaker Team.
Language & Literature Department – Language & Literature Suite
Professor Don Clymer will explain how different strands of his life came together enabling him to publish his recent book Meditations on the Beatitudes: Lessons from the Margins. He will invite the audience to share in the discussion as well. Together we will sing the beatitudes (from Matthew chapter 5), read the beatitudes in both Spanish & English, and (we hope) take a spirit of beatitude with us as we leave this chapel experience.
Physical Education & Recreation Department – UC 124
Brunch items (danish and fruit) will be served as faculty share about faith in the workplace.
Mathematical Sciences, Biology and Chemistry, and Psychology Departments – Science Center 106
Title: Jesus the Master Teacher
Abstract: Students will lead worship through music, and then Emeritus Professor of Mathematics, Millard Showalter, will be giving a performance on the teachings of Jesus. Millard is well known for his excellent memorization of long passages of scriptures and stories, and it will be a treat to have him with us.

Join us for singing choruses from Haydn’s Creation (marking the Gala Music Department All-Haydn concert on Saturday.)

Nursing Department – Martin Chapel (Seminary Building)
We invite you to come to sing, reflect, and bask in the presence of God and God’s people. Our theme is Prayer for the Journey. We will be remembering Jesus’ practice of prayer as self-care that gave him the strength to see, to hear, to care and to carry on. Throughout these moments together we will intersperse singing, scripture and readings or poems from nursing students and nurses that reflect how God’s grace can guide us to care for self and others.
Teacher Education Department – CC 203
Title: A Christian and a teacher . . . on a journey toward faith, hope and love.
Faculty members will share intersections with faith, hope, and love in teaching.
Theater Department – Green Room
Theme: Storing your Treasure
Faculty members and students will lead this chapel.
Visual and Communication Arts Department – UC 176
Title: Relationships and Responsibility
Paulette Moore and students from the Documentary Video class will guide this chapel with a welcome by Cyndi Gusler and opening music led by students.
