Where Campus Center, 105, Strite Conference Room
Duration 1 hour 30 minutes
Dr. Vanessa Ochs is a professor in the Department of Religious Studies and Jewish Studies Program at the University of Virginia where she teaches courses in Judaism, anthropology of religion and spiritual writing. Her topic will be the dramatic changes brought about by women in Judaism in the last decades. She will provide the knowledge about Judaism necessary as background and will address, as well, how Jewish women turned to their Christian sisters in the early days of the Jewish women’s movement for inspiration and guidance.
The forum in which Prof. Ochs will speak is scheduled for 4:15 pm, Thursday, September 13, in Strite Conference Room in the Campus Center (not in Martin Chapel as originally scheduled). Please join us for this event and encourage your students to attend what will be a very interesting and informative presentation. A meet and greet with drinks and snacks is scheduled for 3:45.
This immediately follows the CJP-sponsored 3:00 event where Larry Minear will present and discuss his recent book, Through Veterans’ Eyes: The Iraq and Afghanistan Experience. You are also very much encouraged to attend this event and encourage your students to also.
The public is invited to attend this free event.
