Sumanto is a 2007 EMU CJP grad with a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from Boston University. His address, “Religion, Violence, and Conciliation: The Case of Ambon, Eastern Indonesia,” focuses on interreligious conflicts, prospects for future peace, and challenges of interfaith engagement among Christians and Muslims. Sumanto, General Secretary, Nahdlatul Ulama Community in North America; is currently Research Fellow at Notre Dame’s Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies.
