Unclean: Meditation of Purity, Hospitality, and Mortality written by Richard Beck, Ph.D.

Join nursing professor Ann Hershberger and chemistry professor Tara Kishbaugh for a discussion of hospitality, purity, disgust, and mortality.

The book study will meet on Wednesdays beginning September 12, 2012 through November 28, 2012 (except for November 21 which is Thanksgiving recess).

Dr. Beck will also be speaking at the Suter Science Seminar on Friday, November 30th at 4:00 p.m. in SC 106. The title of his seminar is The Will to Embrace: In Search of Christian Hospitality.

Dr. Richard Beck is Professor and Chair of Psychology at Abilene Christian University and is the author of Unclean: Meditations on Purity, Hospitality, and Mortality and The Authenticity of Faith: The Varieties and Illusions of Religious Experience. As an experimental psychologist, he has also published extensively in the empirical literature examining the intersection of Christianity and psychology. Dr. Beck also writes regularly about the interface of theology and psychology at his popular and award-winning blog Experimental Theology. He is married to Jana, who is a high-school theater teacher, and they have two sons—Brenden and Aidan.
