In 2000, member countries of the United Nations and other development institutions adopted a blueprint of eight international development goals known as Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), setting specific targets to help guide the international community in meeting the needs of millions living in extreme poverty. This session will examine current state of affairs in international development, paying particular attention to various U.S. policies and their contribution to the achievement of MDGs.
