Maiwa-azi Dandaura Samu wrote a thesis, and will present it at this capstone. The key assumption of the thesis is that violence and terrorism can be prevented by combating conflict generators with transformative action. The focus therefore was to research ways and generate key learnings from the two Boko Haram events that can be used for preventing violence and terrorism in Nigeria, using case study approach. The ultimate purpose of the thesis is utilitarian; to enhance the Nigerian government’s body of knowledge in preventive and deterrence counterterrorism that is centered on the protection of human life and the freedom families enjoy in their nations with minimal use of military force and more focused on addressing personal, relational, systemic and cultural root causes.
