*Design: How to Get Creative with Your Engineering*
Presenters: Glenn Wasson, Deputy Director of Product Design of SAIC and Sue Covington, Solution Architect of SAIC
Glenn Wasson focuses the creative energies of the engineers on the product design
team at SAIC. His team deals with the design, analysis, prototyping and
marketing of usable analytic systems for commercial and government
customers in markets from Energy, to Health, to Intelligence and Cyber
Defense. Glenn got his PhD in Computer Science from the University of
Virginia and has been working with teams that make great stuff ever since.
Sue Covington is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a
degree in Mathematical Science and a concentration in Computer Science.
She has 13 years of experience in the software industry working on supply
chain management, online and print publishing, and government intelligence
software. Her career has evolved from software developer to team lead to
software architect working with small entrepreneurial teams to large
distributed teams. During this time she discovered her real leadership
strength as one grounded in design. As a Solution Architect for SAIC, Sue
continuously applies design leadership along with her strong technical
skills to architect software products and solutions for the intelligence
community. Her current work at SAIC includes a cloud-based platform for
Big Data analytics. She is an avid fan of open source software and the
creative ingenuity the open source community brings to the ever-evolving
landscape of technology. Her interest in design extends outside of
computers and into her work with recycled furniture.
Light refreshments will be served immediately prior to talk.
