The Piano Festival, co-sponsored by EMU and the Harrisonburg Music Teacher’s Association (HMTA), is an annual event hosted by EMU. One hundred piano students from various locations throughout the Shenandoah Valley (ages 5-17) perform two contrasting memorized pieces before judges in a recital format. The recitals, scheduled by level, take place at several times on Saturday, March 23rd and are open to the general public. Each student receives written comments and a general rating. An Honors Recital will be held on Sunday, March 24 at 4:00 pm in Martin Chapel for those receiving superior ratings.
