A Book for the ‘Burg aims to promote literacy, build community, inspire engagement, and foster intellectual discussion throughout the Harrisonburg community. The program partnership includes the City of Harrisonburg, Massanutten Regional Library, Eastern Mennonite University and James Madison University. The initiative is funded in part by JMU’s Madison Collaborative: Ethical Reasoning in Action, a new program with the mission of preparing enlightened citizens who apply ethical reasoning in their personal, professional, and civic lives (www.jmu.edu/mc). This year the planning committee has selected the book Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, A Man Who Would Cure the World by Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Kidder.

The contact for the program is the JMU Office of Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability (OESS) at or 540-568-3288.
