It’s amazing to me how much life changes when you get to college. Just being on your own, changes in your schedule, changes in how you study, changes in your grades, changes in your beliefs, changes in how you spend your time, changes in your sleeping patterns, and changes in your eating habits.
Let's go to India!
Spring semester I am heading to India for my semester cross cultural. I am so excited to go! It’s going to be a huge change for me since I have never been overseas. I am excited to learn about a different culture and live someplace that is going to put me out of my comfort zone.
We are going to be doing all kinds of things while in India. Some of the highlights are going on a two day camel ride, working with MCC India, seeing where the Dalai Lama lives, and taking a dancing class. These are just some of our big events but we will be visiting so many other places.
I'm A Little Nervous!
Even though we are going to be doing all of these fun things, I am still nervous. I’m scared of not being able to communicate to other people while over there, I’m scared of getting sick, I’m scared of getting lost, but most importantly I’m scared of the toilets that they use over there. (Squat pots!!)
It’s hard to imagine that I will be away from my family for almost four months! I have never been that far away for that long of a time from my family before, so it will be a big adjustment. I know that I am going to have a great time over there, but it will be hard to not have Easter with the family and miss out on what is going on with them.
A Good Experience
I think that this cross cultural is going to be an eye opening experience for me. I feel that it will teach me so many things about myself. It will be a good change from the life that I am used to, and I think that it will help me to become a better person.
So in less than 2 months I will be on a plane heading to India with 25 other EMU kids as well as my leader, her husband, and their two children. Ready or not, here we go!
