A Whirlwind of Thoughts and Events

I can officially say that I have now started having a social life once again; the play is done. As far as I know, the audience loved it and Erin, Sarah and I had an amazing time together.

Even though it is a let down after every production, there is always excitement for the future shows and meetings of the new casts. And now, as my roommate Lindsay says, “Now Erica, you can do your homework…and spend time with me!”--Whatever you say Lindsay, anything for you.

For celebration though, the Monday after the play was done, Lindsay, Jeff Swartzendruber (Iowan)and Kaleb Wyse (Iowan) took me out to one of my favorite places a person could take me; Panera. It is always nice to get off campus and enjoy a little bit of Harrisonburg every once and a while.

Papermaking!

But then we returned, and I took Lindsay’s advice and hit the books and got my body up to the art building to make paper; yes, I am taking Papermaking. I have realized how relaxing it is, making colors of pulp, mixing it and making beautiful pieces.

People may laugh at the fact that I am taking a class to learn to make paper, I won’t name any names though, you know who you are, but it really is an interesting medium to learn.

Looking past all of the academics and midterms that are coming up in the next week, it is homecoming weekend here at EMU. It’s a crazy time where the parents come out to see their sweet little children, hoping not to see another piercing or tattoo and also hoping that they do look in the books every once in awhile.

Even though my family is not coming out to visit me, there are many other things that I have planned.

A Busy Weekend ...

A few friends are coming out from Hesston for their fall break and a high school friend will be coming from Goshen for his touring music group called Parables. I hope to spend time with each of them but I know that it will be insane. Mennofolk is this weekend and I am hoping to go see a wonderful group called “Over the Rhine” with Becca and a few other people.

Oh and tomorrow, Lindsay, Kaleb, Jeff and I are taking a mini vacation down to Charlottesville for the day. We will be stopping at funky stores and Kaleb and I are expecting by 2 in the afternoon we will hear, “OK, are we done with this mini vacation yet? I’m really tired…” by Lindsay and Jeff but guys, you will just have to stick up with us. No but besides all the sarcasm, it will be a good trip and an amazing weekend packed with events; just how I like it.

And with all of this said, there is something still to look forward to next week; fall break! I will be going to Hesston for a nice long weekend to go visit my certain someone, Matt. But it is hard not to skip to next week’s plans before this week is done.

I need to keep learning how to enjoy the moments that are happening right now and not worrying or only thinking about the future moments.

But this entry has gone extremely long and I thank the people who have gotten this far, congratulations! I will write some more excitements next week! Have a great weekend everybody.

be you
