It's Weird To Think...
It’s weird to think that the fall semester of my second year here has come and gone. My finals and classes that I took last semester are complete and it is a wonderful feeling to start fresh with new classes. I remember thinking during last semester that it was going quickly but not this quickly. I mean for pity sake’s, it feels like I blinked and out of no where came the year 2007.
It’s weird to think that just yesterday I was having a picnic in the middle of January with Theresa, Kristina and Lindsay outside for supper and was perfectly warm enough with wearing a long sleeve shirt. We brought out the blankets we have for the hill, spread them out and enjoyed sandwiches that we made in the caf. It is excellent to be back with them and be able to catch up on all of the events that happened over Christmas break. There have been good talks so far and I am excited to spend more time with all of my friends this next semester. All I have to say for Kristina is that she better be ready to be shut down at Mastermind and Dutch Blitz…she does not know who she is messing with.
It’s weird to think that right now at this moment Erin is in Guatemala with Marissa enjoying the day while soaking up the different culture of people, language, food and vivid colors. On the other end of the world, Lena and Justin are doing who knows what in India. They are probably getting to know their host families by now and are anticipating the next site they will be able to see. Even though we miss them here on campus, or for Erin right next door to me in Elmwood, we are praying for all of them for their safety and many blessings that will come their way day after day.
It’s weird to think we have only been here for seven days and feels like we have been back for a few months now. It was great to be back in Iowa for s few weeks spending time with Liz, Midori and Lindsay and other high school friends and family. My sister Elaine and I were able to do a few things together over break. We went into Chicago for a day to enjoy the malls, played game after game of Racko and even were fortunate to share Pink Eye together for the last week of break. That was not the highlight of my Christmas but I did learn a little something about Pink Eye while I had it; never get it, it is awful. It spreads like a race horse and is not easy to get over.
It is invigorating to anticipate the new doors that the Lord will open for me, my friends and family over this next semester.
