Rain, Rain, Go Away

It is hard to believe that we are almost to the point of midterms in a few weeks. The days have been so chaotic and somehow they melted into weeks that have been full of games, studying, social activities and for me, theatre.

Four hours a night spent in the Black Box Theatre with four other people; Matt Pearson-Director, Pam Mandigo-Stage Manager, Erin Murray-actor “Elizabeth” and Sarah Gant-actor “Amy Lee.”

The hard work that we have put into this play is now going up this weekend. Except we have one slight dilemma; the show is to be performed outside and the forecast has called for rain and a lot of it. Opening night would have been last night if the show would have not been postponed until Sunday evening.

The solution for tonight though, since it does not look like it will stop raining any time soon, is to drag the entire set inside of Lehman Auditorium. Then, if the forecast is clear for Saturday, we will be taking the set down in Lehman and moving it back onto Thomas Plaza where the performance was originally set.

All of this is crazy; it is crazy. And still we say the same line over and over, “…all for the sake of theatre…”

Though, if you would set aside all of the weather inconveniences, this show has been wonderful. I have been able to meet two new amazing friends, I have been directed by the infamous Matt Pearson and watched over by Mama Pam.

The show will go on and hopefully we will be having the audience rolling in their seats.

Oh, and as a side note: it has been proven, never drop a full Nalgene bottle from a high distance, it WILL break and the person who dropped it, will be made fun of for a lifetime.

be you
