" 'stache month at EMU"
 |
| Spring
break - It took a while for year-old Sara to adjust to me.
She kept a close eye on me for several days, but eventually
got used to me and even let me hold her. |
Wow, over two full months has gone by since school started again. This
semester is going by a lot faster than the last one. The weather has
been nice; cooler, with some snow a few weeks ago, with this precipitation
foreign to me that apparently is commonly known as "wintry mix". It's
not quite snow, not quite rain, and not quite hail. Whatever it is,
it has the power to close school or delay classes a period or two.
(Yay!) Now things have warmed up enough to throw a blanket on the ground
and do some homework on the quad when the sun is
out.
The weeks are going by faster and faster. I've found my routine
and figured out ways to make my time between classes and activities
more efficient. The Northlawn great lounge has become a second home
in the afternoons; it's a quiet place to knock out a few hours worth
of homework. Math is especially nice to do over there. With three
math classes, I've got a lot of math to do! The Honors weekend was
a few weekends ago. Students from all over were invited to visit
campus and compete for a position in the Honors Program. Although
I was not able to attend the Honors Weekend last year, I helped plan
the events for this year and hosted a prospective Honors student.

| Spring
break - Ft. Myers is in southwestern Florida, and has a nice
beach looking out into the golf of Mexico. The sunsets were
beautiful and the beach was very pleasant most evenings. |
Everyone looked forward to Fall Break with much anticipation. Young
People's Christian Association (one of the school clubs) led some service
trips that many of my friends went on. People went to Camden, NJ, New
York City, Florida, and Georgia. My friends who went on these trips
had a great time (and some got pretty tan, too!). I went to down to
Ft. Meyers Beach, Florida to stay with my friend Peter Torkelson and
his family. It was nice to be with friends for a while who are from
my life at home.
February was 'stache month at EMU. Student Government sponsored
an event to see who could grow the biggest moustache in one month.
So, I tried it out. Growing facial hair was a first for me, so it
was nice to have an excuse to try it out.
just a few more weeks...
