POSITION: Director, Center for Studies in Abrahamic Traditions
QUALIFICATIONS: :
- M.A./M.B.A in management, religion, conflict transformation or related field; Ph.D. preferred
- Strong record of leadership/management, with particular experience in launching new programs.
- Director will have an Anabaptist/Mennonite faith orientation and commitment including active participation in a church community, and dedication to a life of nonviolence and peacemaking.
- Key requirements include inter-religious experience, cross-cultural sensitivity, skills in team-building, problem-solving, strategic planning and program development.
- Ongoing activities from Phase I.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible to lead a two-year process of developing a Center for Studies in Abrahamic Traditions (CSAT) at Eastern Mennonite University.
Phase I
- Carry lead staff responsibility for articulating the potential vision and mission of the CSAT, including visioning, strategic planning, building internal and external relationships and networking with key stakeholders.
- Gather information about existing programs with similar emphases, listen to key organizational partners in mission and relief agencies.
- Research funding options for short-term and long-term support of a Center.
Phase II
- Design a plan for the continuation of the program beyond the two-year initial phase, including funding options. Serve as staff for the CSAT advisory board and its program activities.
TERMS: 12-month, full time position, for two years, starting July 1, 2008. Remuneration and benefits commensurate with experience and in accordance with the administrative pay scale.
