POSITION: Faculty position in Mission, Intercultural and Interfaith Studies
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. required or equivalent terminal degree required.
Special Requirements:
- simultaneously appreciative of social scientific insights and well-versed in biblical and theological studies;
- committed to expressing and embracing diversity of gender, race, ethnicity, faith community, and more;
- interested in contributing to a generous Anabaptism through which to nurture students from many faith backgrounds—not least a strong contingent of the United Methodist Church (UMC) students Eastern Mennonite Seminary (EMS) is accredited to serve and in consideration of which EMS will take seriously applications by UMC candidates as well as a broad range of denominations.
RESPONSIBILITIES: To teach courses in mission, intercultural and interfaith studies. Ideal candidates will show interest in some of the following areas: local and global mission, including a.) implications of interfaith conversations and theologizing and b.) the possibility of postcolonial critique and effects of race/ethnicity; affirming and critical engagement with contemporary trends in Christianity and society, including emergent, missional, and beyond; peacebuilding.
POSITION DETAILS: Full-time, ongoing, fixed interval contract position. Option for a one-year short term assignment with a mutual agreement. Review of applications has been ongoing since early 2011.
