Factbook
The Eastern Mennonite University Factbook is produced annually by the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. The Factbook includes historical and archival information about Eastern Mennonite University. Trend data on enrollment, graduation rates, admissions, and more, are included in the Factbook. Electronic data from the Student Information System (SIS) are frozen annually, in the fall of each academic year, and used in the creation of tables included in the Factbook, and to provide archival information.
Common Data Set
What is the Common Data Set ? It is comprised of a standard set of questions (with standard definitions) that most institutions complete in the fall of each academic year. Representatives from higher education and publishers (e.g., US News and World Reports) have worked together to develop this set of information, in an attempt to reduce data collection burden and to standardize information that is requested from various sources.
CIRP Freshman Survey
The Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) Freshman Survey is produced by the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) of UCLA. The survey is administered at EMU to first-time first-year entering students at the beginning of every other fall semester. Survey items are analogous to the items administered to graduating seniors on the College Student Survey (CSS). Pre-post longitudinal data (CIRP and CSS) are available for students who agree to participate.
CSS Senior Survey
The College Senior Survey (CSS; aka College Student Survey) is produced by the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) of UCLA. The survey addresses areas such as student-faculty interaction, academic challenge and achievement, faith development, student motivation, satisfaction with campus experience, campus climate, time-usage and political orientation. Graduating seniors at EMU complete the survey in the spring of even years (e.g., 2006, 2008, etc.)
HERI Faculty Survey
The HERI Faculty Survey is produced by the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) of UCLA. The survey includes questions in the areas of morale, sources of stress, organizational health, student academic and personal development, and faculty professional development. The survey is administered every three years.
Impact Study
The Impact Study is an in-house study of Eastern Mennonite University's impact on the local community and economy.
EMU
FACULTY-STAFF SURVEY: Fall 2006
The EMU Faculty-Staff Survey
is an in-house developed survey that addresses faculty and staff
members' opinions in a number of areas: institutional resources,
work-environment, job satisfaction, student outcomes, support services,
advising and faculty development. The survey is administered every
three years (e.g., 2006, 2009, etc.).
ADMITTED
STUDENT QUESTIONNAIRE: Fall 2006

The Admitted Student Questionnaire is
administered every three years (e.g., May 2006, May 2009, etc.) to
first-time first-year students who have been admitted to EMU for the
fall. The survey is produced by College
Board and compares enrolling and non-enrolling students'
ratings of the importance of various aspects in selecting a college,
images that describe the college, information sources used, financial
aid, and how EMU compares to other colleges that they considered. Yield
rates (i.e., the percent of students who enrolled) and national
comparison data are provided for each of the items.
GENERAL
EDUCATION SURVEY OF GRADUATING SENIORS: Spring 2007
The
General Education Survey of Graduating Seniors is an in-house survey
developed as a measure of students' perceptions of the importance
and their own improvement on knowledge, skills,
and attitudes addressed by the general education curriculum. The survey
is administered to graduating seniors every-other year in the spring. A
comparison survey is administered to first-year students, which asks
them to rate the importance and their perception
of their own preparation on the same items. A
separate, shortened version of the survey was administered to
graduating Adult
Degree Completion Program students in both Harrisonburg and
Lancaster.
NATIONAL
SURVEY OF STUDENT ENGAGEMENT: Spring 2004
The National
Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) was developed as a tool
for examining student responses to several areas of university life:
level of academic challenge, active and collaborative learning,
student-faculty interaction, enriching educational experiences, and
supportive campus environment. The survey is administered nation-wide
and peer comparison data and national benchmark data are provided. EMU
participated in the Spring 2007 administration of the NSSE; results
will be available Fall 2007.
