New services from Information Systems, Fall 2007

With the start of the new academic year several significant changes to the following systems will be implemented by Information Systems:

NEW COPIER ACCOUNTING SYSTEM
NEW COPIER FUNCTIONALITY
NEW WIRELESS AUTHENTICATION
NEW CAMPUS WEB AUTHENTICATION

NEW COPIER ACCOUNTING SYSTEM: We are in the process of implementing a new system that will provide a standardized setup on all EMU copiers. Users will need to provide their copier code and a billing code to "unlock" the copier for usage. A copier code has been assigned to all persons. This code is made up of the EMU ID# with a four digit code at the end. The billing code designates what cost center will be charged for the copies. The four digit code and the billing codes will be distributed on a yellow card in an envelope marked confidential. You will either receive them in campus mail or at training being done by User Services for each department having a copier. Contact the Help Desk if you have questions.

NEW COPIER FUNCTIONALITY: All of the networked copiers can now scan documents and email them as a pdf files to the user. Directions on how do utilize this functionality will be posted by each copier.

NEW WIRELESS NETWORK AUTHENTICATION: On August 20, we will be changing our authentication method for the wireless networks. The wireless network will require users to enter their Royal username and password. This is the same as your email username and password. Laptop users will be prompted to enter their Royal username and password when connecting to the wireless network. On Windows laptops in addition to fields for your username and password you will see a field for domain which you should leave blank. Contact the Help Desk if you have any problems with this new system.

NEW CAMPUS WEB AUTHENTICATION: We are constantly working to standardize the usernames and passwords that are required for accessing EMU electronic systems. Sometime on August 17 you should see a new login page for the Campus Web system (http://campusweb.emu.edu). The new login page will allow you to use your Royal username and password to access Campus Web. Once you have authenticated, Campus Web will function like the current system. The only difference is that instead of having to remember your employee or student number and a completely different password, you will be accessing Campus Web with your Royal username and password.

REMINDER: The best way to get assistance from Information Systems is by sending and email to helpdesk@emu.edu. This automatically creates a work ticket that Information Systems team members will use to prioritize your requests and log all their work to answer your question or solve your problem. These tickets are monitored and worked on Mon-Fri, 8:00am-5:00pm.
