Students Bringing Computers To Campus Must Read And Understand This Memo

The purpose of this memo is to communicate two things: 1) the consequences for excessive Internet usage, and; 2) our procedures for responding to RIAA infringement notifications.

Information Systems is pleased to welcome all students who bring computers to campus and to provide computer network connectivity in your rooms and/or via wireless data communications. However, we need your understanding and cooperation as you use the EMU Internet connection with your computer.

We pay about $2,000 each month for our Internet connection which makes it an expensive resource that must be shared equitably among nearly 1,500 computer users on campus, including over 600 in residence halls. This is the reason we set daily limits on the amount of Internet data each student registered computer can use.
