There were other issues raised on the survey that could not be summarized by a goal. These are categorized below with responses.
Oracle Calendar
- I would like a shared calendar for my department: No problem. Just contact the Help Desk.
Computing Resources
- I would like a printer in my office: Networked printers are supplied in common areas and are upgraded as needed. Printers are only supplied for individuals when the networked printer is far from their office. Color printers are purchased through InfoSys with departmental funds.
- Our departmental printer is too slow or too old : Networked printers are replaced when they no longer function. If you are having problems with your printer, contact the Help Desk.
- My computer is slow or I would like a new computer: InfoSys is working hard to fufill the four year replacement cycle. Last year we implemented a plan that will guarantee faculty and staff receive a one year old computer every three years.
- I would like an LCD monitor: It is our intent to make these widely available over the next two years depending upon financial resource constraints. Contact the Help Desk if your department is willing to fund the LCD monitor and we will facilitate the purchase.
- I think faculty should have the option of a laptop : The Technology Resource Allocation Policy outlines the proceedure for users who feel their job requires them to have a portable computing solution. Contact the Help Desk if this is something you would like to pursue.
- Is there an alternative to Webmail : Yes. Faculty and staff who would like an alternative to Webmail should contact the Help Desk. We support Outlook for Windows and OS X Mail for Macintosh.
Training
- I would like training on...: From time to time we are able to offer informational sessions over lunch, or training on a new system. Unfortunately InfoSys does not have the resources to offer training on a regular schedule. It is dependent upon our workload. However if you have questions about any of the EMU systems or software, contact the Help Desk.
