Basic Preaching Institute
The primary focus of the course of study over 9 months is the effective spoken communication of the Christian gospel in the contemporary context. This training is designed to help participants master the basic principles and skills of preaching. Learning Activities
Workshops: Participate in five half-day preaching workshops.
Preaching: Prepare, deliver and record four sermons for feedback.
Feedback: After each sermon meet with your selected Listener Group; submit the sermons to the instructor for specific written analysis.
Study: Read textbooks, articles, and complete written exercises.
Mentoring: Meet three times with a Mentor to reflect on your experience.
Who is eligible?
Participants will need to be able to preaching at least four times during the training period. This should be blessed by the congregation or pastoral supervisor.
You do not need to have a college degree to participate. However, you will be expected to work at an advanced level.
Cost:
- $495 for non-credit which includes written feedback on four sermons
- $1242 for three semester hours of seminary credit
The Institute encourages participants to seek financial assistance from their local congregations. Participants who have special needs or whose congregations cannot assist are encouraged to apply to the Institute for a need-based scholarship.
