Learning Resources
Instructional Technology Services
Mission Statement
Learning Resources supports the mission of Eastern Mennonite University by providing instructional and other multi-media and audio-visual services for EMU, and by extending limited audio-visual services to the surrounding community.
Learning Resources collaborates with faculty, Information Systems, and other departments to evaluate new technologies that improve teaching and learning.
Level 1 priorities for Learning Resources are:
- supporting instructional use of audio-visual media and equipment
- training faculty and staff in the use of A-V equipment
- training and supervision of work-study assistants
- campus wide delivery and set-up of A-V equipment
- troubleshooting of A-V equipment, including multi-media components of teacher stations in "smart classrooms"
- purchasing A-V and other media equipment
- collaborating with Information Systems and other units in evaluating and purchasing equipment that enables use of new technologies and resources in new formats
Level 2 priorities for Learning Resources are:
- supporting recreational and leisure use of A-V media and equipment
- processing requests for rental of a-v materials for non-instructional purposes
- repair of A-V equipment
Level 3 priorities for Learning Resources are:
- operating A-V equipment (projection equipment, recording, filming, etc.)*
- limited services to the surrounding community, such as laminating and reproduction (without editing) of audio and video tapes.
*In order to provide training/support/troubleshooting for equipment in the Library Technology Classroom and other "smart classrooms," Marty King may not be able to do all the recording, filming, and projection work that he has done in the past. Scheduling of LR work-study assistants makes it difficult to guarantee that they will be able for recording, filming, and projection. Faculty and other university staff may find it necessary to assume additional responsibility for recording, filming, and projection.
