Setting Up Dreamweaver MX 2004

  1. Open Dreamweaver and click "Site" at the top (next to File / Edit / View and other commands).

  2. Select "Manage Sites" and a site box will pop up in the center of your screen.

  3. Select "New" and then select "Site."

  4. Click the "Advanced" tab at the top of the site box.

  5. Fill out the "Site name" field ... 'emu web files' will be fine, for example.

  6. Click "Remote Info" in the Category list to the left.

  7. Select "FTP" in the drop-down Access list.

  8. Your "FTP host" is www.emu.edu.

  9. Leave the "Host directory" field blank.

  10. Your login is your network username and password. Remember, all lower-case letters.

  11. Check the "Save" box next to the password field.

  12. Checkmark the "Use Secure FTP (SFTP)" option.

  13. Make sure there is NO checkmark next to the "Enable file check in/check out" option.

  14. Click "Test." (If you receive an error please check your password and try again. If you receive another error, please call the Helpdesk at x4357.)

  15. Click "OK."

  16. Click "Done."

  17. Click "Edit" at the top of the Dreamweaver screen (near File/Edit/View).

  18. Click "Preferences."

  19. Click " New Document" in the left-hand list and select "HTML" in the first drop-down box (for Default).

  20. Click "OK" and begin your web work!
