Apply now for up to $5000 a year in music scholarships! On-campus auditions will be held February 5 and March 18, 2016. CD auditions are due by March 18, 2016. (If you cannot attend one of dates above, please contact Dr. Joan Griffing to arrange for an alternate audition date.)
Admission requirements: Students with a concentration in music performance, music education or church music are required to audition in a major performance area. Students with a concentration in Interdisciplinary Studies in Music are not required to audition. There is also no audition requirement for either music minor.
Please plan to perform two works of contrasting character. For instrumentalists these might include a fast and slow work, and/or pieces from different historical eras.
Vocalists should include one foreign language piece and one English language piece. The English language selection may derive from traditional classical repertoire (art song, oratorio, etc.) or from the musical theater genre. Both works together should not exceed ten minutes duration.
The department encourages vocalists to bring their own accompanist. (Instrumentalists will perform unaccompanied.) In the event this is not possible, please call the music department to discuss accompanist options. In the event a member of the Scholarship Committee is not present, a videotape will be made of the audition for purposes of adjudication.
