Professor to Detail 'Evolutionary Creation' in Talk

The next Suter Science Seminar will take a second look at the creation-evolution debate and offer a perspective that respects both views.
Denis O. Lamoureux, assistant professor of science and religion at St. Joseph's College at the University of Alberta, Canada, will speak 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 on "Evolutionary Creation" in the Suter Science Center Auditorium.
"A simple 'either/or' approach to origins of life inhibits everyone from making informed choices," Dr. Lamoureux stated. "If the limits of both conservative Christianity and evolutionary biology are respected, then their relationship is not only complementary but also necessary."
The evolutionary creation position that the speaker will explain claims that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit created the universe and life through an ordained and sustained evolutionary process.
Dr. Peter Dula, assistant professor of religion and culture at EMU, and Dr. Nancy Heisey, chair of EMU's Bible and religion department, will respond to the presentation.
Admission to the program is free. Refreshments will be served 15 minutes prior to the presentation.
