Sarah Armstrong is Director of the Masters of Arts in Education program at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia where she teaches graduate courses on applications of brain research in the K-12 classroom K-12 and oversees programs on Restorative Justice in Education. Prior to that role, she was Senior Director of Statewide Professional Development for SCPS at the University of Virginia where she directed a statewide leadership development program for new and emerging principals.

Dr. Armstrong’s wide-range of experience as an educator includes serving as a reading specialist, supervisor of gifted and reading, elementary principal and assistant superintendent. Sarah served as president of the Virginia Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (VASCD). She was recipient of the VASCD 2001 Outstanding Curriculum Leadership Award for the state of Virginia.

Sarah is also president of Leading and Learning Solutions, serving as a consultant on instructional improvement, including the application of brain research, effective differentiation in the classroom, and implementation of collaborative content/special education programs in schools. She conducts workshops at national and state conferences and works regularly coaching administrators and teachers in school districts across the country.

Her books, Teaching Smarter with the Brain in Focus (2008) and A Practical Guide to Tiering Instruction in the Differentiated Classroom (2010), both published by Scholastic are frequently used in workshop presentations.
