Beyond Shoulder-tapping:
Developing Meaningful Experiences
in Ministry for Emerging Leaders
January 18-19, 2007
This conference will focus on sharing models of leadership development with each other. By attending you will have an opportunity to:
- Gather new ideas from others who are working at leadership development in their own contexts
- Test your own ideas with others who are involved in similar work
- Hear from seminary students who are participating in the call process about their experiences and challenges
- Hear how young adults are reshaping the way leadership is developed within a congregational setting
This conference will be highly participant oriented. We have asked a number of congregations to share formally about the processes they use to call leaders from within their congregation. We have also asked seminary students who have been part of some of these processes to share the experiences and the challenges they face as they take the next steps to ministry. There will be significant time for small group discussion and storytelling. We are particularly interested in facilitating a conversation among those who are practicing leadership development within their congregations.
