Interests

Learning- I love hands-on learning. Let me get my hands dirty, and build something while I build relationships. I feel this will be extremely important when doing pastoral care in an agrarian community. To work alongside people physically while making them aware of how God is working alongside them spiritually.

Calling

Home church support was critical to my acknowledgment of the call God had placed on my life. However, there were those who could boldly state what they could see when I couldn't see it. Paul Lederach named that I would be a pastor long before I ever thought it possible. I felt the call to youth ministry as a college freshman at Bluffton, and pursued that career track in college. Then proceeded to Seminary directly after college. My mother was a spiritual guide for me, so I understood how Timothy felt, having matriarchs light his path to faith in his early life. When my father left when I was six, someone had to teach me what I needed to know about God to survive, and my mother did that very thing. As did my grandmother. As I grew, and considered the call of Jeremiah in Jeremiah chapter 1 I realized how God was calling me to work in situations that might stretch me. Ministry is that for me, it causes me to grow and stretch in new and different ways. And as I prayed over what I read, I realized that God might be calling me to minister in difficult situations.

Ideal Ministry

Young people. Youth and young adults, with their desire to serve the lord, and see new things happen in God's church. Where they desire to see Joel's words come true. "I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions."

EMS Comments

Eastern Mennonite Seminary prepared me to head into a variety of ministry situations. I was grateful for the faculty and staff who were, a people seeking after faithfulness to God and the word God has set before us.
