Calling
I was born, baptized and raised in the Roman Catholic tradition until the age of 10. At that age I became part of the evangelical tradition under the ministry of Edward King, a Mennonite missionary who started a spiritual renewal movement in Honduras back in the 70's. I became a minister with Amor Viviente Church and came to the USA as a missionary to work with Hispanic communities in this country. I became part of MCUSA in 2002 while doing church planting in Miami, FL. I decided to come to EMS to get a formal theological education.
Ideal Ministry
I enjoy a great deal what I do in the present time as Director of LEAP365 which is a mentoring program for high school youth. I also enjoy preaching and pastoral care. While doing a unit of CPE at Rockingham Memmorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, I learned to appreciate chaplaincy work also. Teaching is something that also energizes me a great deal.
EMS Comments
EMS has been the best thing that could ever happen to me after becoming a believer and meeting my wife Mariana. EMS has taught me to do theology and to be more aware of my strenghts as well as my weaknesses. I always dreamed of the day that I would go to a seminary and learn more about my faith; the time finally came for me, I couldn't be more excited about it!
Favorite Course
Several courses could be named here...The Christian Tradition, CPE, Preaching and all the biblical courses I took. Also, the whole formation track made a significant impact in my spiritual life.
Thought for Someone in my Position
It is never too late to get an education. I thought that at 38 years old, my time to study theology had come and gone; I was wrong! If you have a strong sense of calling to Christian ministry and have the opportunity of coming to a place like EMS, just do it, you will never regret it!
