I am the assistant and computer systems coordinator in the alumni and parent relations department at Eastern Mennonite University (EMU).
EMU is a liberal arts university in Harrisonburg, Virginia, a small city of about 40,500 in the Shenandoah Valley. EMU was founded in 1917 -"a year of revolution and war -revolution in Russia, and for the Americans, first hand encounter with modern warfare as the U.S. entered WWI. In retrospect, and inauspicious time for pacifist Mennonites who abhor war and revolution to be launching a new education venture."
The institution was previously known as Eastern Mennonite College (EMC) -the name changed in August 1994. The faculty and staff at EMU challenge themselves and students to take seriously the theme of the university's global village curriculum: "...do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with God." (Micah 6:8)
The EMU alumni and parent relations office connects the university with its alumni and parents of current students. It promotes the school’s mission and activities and organizes special alumni and parent events. The department fosters loyalty and financial commitment to the university and its mission.
