Annual Events

Annual activities/ceremonies include a sports day in early spring [first term], parents' day in the summer [second term] and Speech day in the fall/autumn [third term].

The school year in Kenya coincides with the calendar year. The first term of school begins in January and ends in April. The second term begins in May and goes through July and the third term begins in September and ends in November with holiday breaks in April, August and December.

Sports Day

This first term single day event has all ten houses competing in different sporting events from swimming to track events such as long and high jumping, javelin, a hundred to two hundred meter races, etc. At the end of the day, trophies are awarded to the winning houses, in respective events. Parents, family and friends are invited.

Parents' Day

This is a second term event geared toward -as the title suggests -parents. It is the single day of the year that parents have a chance to see what and how their daughters have been learning. Organized tours by students are available to any class and/or lab demonstrations through out the day. Teachers are also available to answer questions on student progress.

Speech Day

This third term event is organized by the school's administration. A prominent person in the country (mostly a woman) is invited to speak to the girls about their own experience in what they do and how they got there. It is meant to encourage the girls and show that there is no limit to what the students can achieve. Previously invited personalities have been judges, cabinet ministers, CEO's etc.
