Shane Claiborne Visits EMU

Shane Claiborne
Shane Claiborne wrote The Irresistible Revolution: Living as an Ordinary Radical.

Shane Claiborne, a self-styled "simple man" with a straightforward message about radical discipleship, will spend March 26 and 27 on campus.

During his visit Claiborne, who heads The Simple Way, a Christian communal group based in Philadelphia, will focus on linking faith and actions to make a difference in the world.

"Shane has the ability to reach out and grab you with the whole gospel of Jesus. His stories of striving to truly live according to the ways of Jesus are inspiring and challenging," said Brian Martin Burkholder, campus pastor. "When he was on campus two years ago, students couldn't stop talking about the impact he had on them."

Claiborne's presentations are part of a year-long emphasis on creation care at EMU, providing opportunities for students, faculty and staff to talk about various aspects of campus life - eating, worship, travel and play - and how these fit into a community-wide vision for sustainable living.
