Housing Options

The University makes available a variety a variety of living arrangements in an attempt to meet the developmental needs of students. The following options are available:

Residence Halls

Roselawn Residence HallDouble rooms, single rooms, four person adjoining rooms and suites. (Read more about the residence halls.)

Intentional Community

Martin House provides an option for up to 12 men and women to live together in a single-family dwelling owned by the university. Students must apply and demonstrate maturity and the ability to live in a group situation.

Redmond House provides an option for up to 6 men and women to live together in a single-family dwelling owned by the university. Students must apply and demonstrate maturity and the ability to live in a group situation.

Mt. Clinton ApartmentsApartments

Mt. Clinton Apartments and Village Apartments - These apartments offer housing for married and older single students in a community setting that is convenient to campus. The apartments feature air conditioning, laundry facilities within the building, major kitchen appliances, university telephone and voice mail, etc. For more information or to reserve an apartment, contact Greg Becker at (540) 432-4662 or .

Off-Campus Housing

Because EMU believes that residence hall living fosters social and emotional development, it is required that all full-time single, undergraduate students live on campus. Exemption may be given to students who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  1. Live with a parent or legal guardian.
  2. Have earned a total of 90 semester hours and are 21 years of age by September 1 of the year in which off-campus housing is requested.
  3. Need to reserve an apartment due to marriage plans within the semester
  4. Require specialized care as prescribed by a medical doctor.

Students must submit a housing form documenting their eligibility during the semester prior to living off campus.
