4:00-5:00 p.m.           Check into the resident halls – go directly to your room and check in with the community advisor (a student in charge of the hall)

5:30 p.m.                   Dinner in Cafeteria – ground floor of Northlawn; meet the other new students and the current international students that are around

8:00 – 9:00 a.m.     Breakfast in Dinning Hall for resident students; ground floor of Northlawn

9:00 a.m.                Practical Matters – A general overview of things such as housing, food, transportation, communication, shopping, money, services, recreation, etc.  

10:30 a.m.               Identification cards and Post Office box

11:00 a.m.               Business Office – a short presentation on services available regarding financial transactions and a brief explanation of Health Insurance in the US and its importance  

11:30 a.m.               Wellness Centera short presentation on the services available regarding health services and what to do in case of a medical emergency  

12:00-1:00 p.m.      Lunch in Dinning Hall for resident students; ground floor of North Lawn

1:30 p.m.                 Park View Federal Credit Union – Open bank account, please bring your passport and money

                               Wal-Mart Run – Purchase items you may need, i.e. bed sheets, pillows, personal items, etc.

5:00–6:15 p.m.       Dinner in Dinning Hall for resident students ground floor of Northlawn

7:30 p.m.                Ice Cream Social in the Presidents Reception Room - A time to meet faculty, staff and returning international students

10:00 a.m.               US Academic system and Cultural Adjustment – a general overview of student expectations, academic advisors, professors, and student services, plus a discussion on culture  

12:00-1:00 p.m.      Lunch in Dinning Hall for resident students; ground floor of North Lawn

1:30 p.m.                Cultural Event

5:00 p.m.                Dinner in town – Enjoy a downtown restaurant in Harrisonburg.
