Peer-Mentoring Group

A Peer-Mentoring Group (PMG) is a group of three students (same gender) that are committed to meeting once a week for 1 hour (or more!) during the semester. Every PMG decides where? or when? to meet.
The PMG will meet for the following 3 main purposes:
-Accountability with one-another (in areas of Christian living and faith issues, academic performance, stress management, etc)
-Scripture Reading
-Prayer (for one another and intercessional)
There is NO named leader in the group per se as all participants in the PMG will take turns in facilitating the agenda.
Our only requirement for participants are:
-Willingness to commit the the PMG for a whole semester.
-Take Part in all three scheduled events.
-Be Willing to provide the MCS Office feedback through the PMG’s site on Facebook
The PMG Cycle…
The life of the PMG cycle follows three distinctive stages called, “Ignition”, “Reckoning” and “Recognition”.
The “Ignition” Event…
Sept. 6th, 5-6:30pm, @ UC 211-212, Pizza and beverages will be provided
This is a launching event where the peer-mentoring experience will be ignited! After this event, participants should be ready to engage in their PMGs successfully.
The “Reckoning” Event…
Oct. 18th, 5-6:30pm, @ UC 211-212 food and beverages will be provided
This is basically a resourcing/assessment meeting that will help our office get a sense of where things are going with the PMG.
The “Recognition” Event…
Dec. 7th, 5-6:30pm, site TBD
This is a special meeting where the PMGs great work will be highlighted. Here we will hear real life stories of internal growth and community learning shared by participants.
Our Mission
Is to encourage and empower students to engage in an intentional peer-mentoring relationship with other students as they mature together in the important growth areas of Christian faith and living, personal and academic accountability as well as community development.
