An Introduction to residence life at EMU
The residence life department welcomes you to your home away from home.... your new residence hall room on our campus. We look forward to meeting you and serving you throughout your academic career.
(In Fall 2008, returning students can begin to move back in at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24. Doors will open for new students at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23.)
College life is more than classroom learning. Much of your wisdom will develop through life in residence halls, clubs, and organizations, on athletic fields, and within personal relationships. At EMU, we attempt to offer a total educational experience. We work with students year after year to develop leadership opportunities and support services which will help you prepare for life after EMU.
Residence life staff members are the folks who will help you to find your way around campus; plan activities which will complement your academic courses; recommend social activities; help you find what you need to know to survive around campus; and help you make your new home as pleasant as possible.
This booklet will help you plan your stay with us and will present some of the answers to the most commonly asked questions about Residence Life.
