Guest Director for "12 Angry Jurors"
This is the story of a diverse group of middle-class jurors who are uncomfortably brought together to deliberate the "facts" in a seemingly open-and-shut murder case. Heated discussions, the formation of alliances, frequent reevaluation and changing of opinions and the revelation of personal experiences all fill the stage in this powerful American drama originally written as a teleplay by Reginald Rose in 1957.
An award-winning director and published playwright, Guest Director L.B. Hamilton was founding artistic director of the critically-acclaimed Las Vegas fringe theater, "Our Backs to the Wall Players" and co-founder of the Maine Youth Summer Theatre Institute. She continues to freelance while serving as consulting director for C.L.I.M.B. Theater in Minnesota and as director of special programs for Washington Shakespeare Company (WSC).
Her collection of seven short plays, "Seniority," recently debuted at WSC, and her "Back Up Dog and the Bully" was included in C.L.I.M.B.'s repertoire. In January 2003 her "Don Giovanni of Long Island" (a deep revision of the Mozart opera) is scheduled for a return performance in D.C. after playing to sold-out audiences early this year.
Performance dates: Oct. 4-6 and 11-13, 2002. Admission: $8 in advance, $10 at the door, and $5 for seniors and non-EMU students.
