Barry Hart is professor of trauma, identity and conflict studies at Eastern Mennonite University. He has worked in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Burundi and Somaliland as well as Northern Ireland and Haiti. His long-term work in the former Yugoslavia included conflict transformation and prejudice reduction training and psychosocial consultation. In 2009, Dr. Hart did a major tolerance assessment in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is currently researching the further integration of psychosocial trauma/well-being and peacebuilding. He is the author of the book, Peacebuilding in Traumatized Societies, and a recent article in the African Peace and Conflict Journal, “Integrating Principles and Practices of Customary Law, Conflict Transformation and Restorative Justice in Somaliland”. Dr. Hart holds a PhD in conflict analysis and resolution from George Mason University.
