Edgar is a native of Ohio who moved to the valley in 1971 to attend classes at Eastern Mennonite College. He graduated in 1976 with the Bachelor of Science degree in Social Sciences. He later earned his M.Ed in Psychology at James Madison University. While at JMU he did additional course work in the MBA program, integrating these two disciplines in his leadership style in the work place. A strong advocate the importance of Emotional Intelligence in the workplace, Edgar has held leadership positions for more than 40 years for three very different businesses in the Harrisonburg area. He is currently the General Manager for Truck Enterprises Inc. a family owned truck dealership headquartered in Harrisonburg. Edgar has taught both traditional undergraduates and students in the Adult Degree Completion Program, where he taught Organizational Development, Leadership and Supervision, Human Resource Management, and Business Ethics. Currently he teaches a leadership class in the MAOL program. Edgar has served on the boards of the Family Life Resource Center, The Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community, Red Front Advisory Board and the Massanutten Technical Center Foundation. He also serves as an Elder at Park View Mennonite Church.
Edgar is married to Carmen Strite Miller and has two daughters, Caitlin and Courtney who are graduates of EMU
