Early Learning Center
Rachel Diener, director of the Early Learning Center, teaches the four-year old class and has been at the center since 1993. She holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Goshen (Ind.) College and a Virginia Collegiate Professional License for teaching PreK through 6th grade.
Carmen Miller joined EMU staff as the Lead Teacher in the two-year old class at the Early Learning Center and as the Program Assistant in Campus Ministries. Carmen holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Eastern Mennonite University. She is a regular worship leader in her congregation and serves as a volunteer sponsor with the high school youth group. Carmen serves as the campus Celebration adviser. She also has background in a variety of teaching roles including outdoor environmental education, early childhood music, religious education, and homeschooling.
Abby is the teacher’s assistant for the 2-year-old and 3-year-old classes. She graduated from The Pennslyvania State University with a degree in Environmental Resource Management and has since learned that she loves working with children. Abby is a certified children’s yoga teacher.
Nicole Wagner Haskell is the lead teacher of the three year old class at the Early Learning Center. She is also the teacher’s assistant in the four year old class.
Nicole holds a master’s degree in Elementary Education from Nova Southeastern University. She has earned her Child Development Associate from JMU. Nicole attended University of Florida for her undergraduate degree where she majored in Sports Medicine and also got a minor in Wildlife Conservation.
