Welcome to EMU!
I am delighted to welcome you to Eastern Mennonite University. I trust that you will find your years as a member of our academic community to be both challenging and rewarding. In addition to its standard of excellence in education, EMU is committed to providing opportunities for Christian faith development and personal growth. You may have come primarily for academics, but in student life we believe you stay and thrive because of relationships.
We hope you’ll begin developing collaborative relationships immediately, as you work side-by-side in your orientation group and get acquainted with the broader Harrisonburg community. This group will continue to meet four times a week during the first semester through the College Writing for Transitions class.
Further associations will be built through Housing and Residence Life, where you will study, hang out, pray, and eat with floor-mates, community advisors (CAs), and ministry assistants (MAs). You will also want to consider joining several of the more than 30 student organizations that allow you to share your interests with fellow students. If you want more activities, there are offerings from Campus Activities Council and Intercollegiate Athletics as well as Recreational Sports and the Fitness Center.
If there is anything I can do to address your Student Life questions, please do not hesitate to visit the Student Life suite or call to set up an appointment at (540) 432-4135. Department directors also welcome your contacts. I look forward to meeting you soon.
