Kent was born in 1970 to Mennonite missionary parents in Saigon, Vietnam, but mostly grew up as a Mennonite Central Committee “kid” in Akron, PA. He is a graduate of Eastern Mennonite College (B.A. 1992) and Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary (M.A. 1998). He is currently finishing a dissertation in Christian Ethics from Fuller Theological Seminary. Special areas of interest include historical Galilee/Jesus studies; Creation Care and Sabbath Economics; “just peacemaking” practices; the Abrahamic traditions; and the “Diggers” and “Levellers” of the 17th-century Puritan Revolution era. Kent has also invested 11 years of “sweat equity” in “CSA” organic vegetable gardening and 14 years as a Mennonite pastor’s husband.
