Leah Boyer

Leah Shao Boyer, assistant professor of physics. Leah earned a bachelor of electrical engineering from Dalian Marine College (China), a M.S. and a Ph.D. in physics from Bowling Green State University. Her doctoral dissertation topic was “Preparation and Characterization of II-VI compound Semiconductor Thin-Films by Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD).” Leah came with teaching experience in general physics and material science as well as professional experience as an engineer in the United States and in China. Leah had been very active in a Chinese Bible study as an outreach to Chinese students at Bowling Green State. She came to EMU with a desire to speak openly about God’s love as she integrates faith and physics with a commitment to Christian higher education.

-Was the founder and leader of Harrisonburg Chinese Christian Fellowship (12/04-12/06).
-the judge for Virginia Junior Academy of Science competition in May 2006 and May 2007.
-Passed the exam and took 20 hours training course to be an official community interpreter.
-Served as the reviewer for two on-line programs: Mastering Physics and Math Modeling. I helped review their program and student’s papers.
-AP physics viewer 2007, 2008.
-EMU cross-culter leader to China in May 2008.
Member of American Associate of Physics Teacher (AAPT).
